THE CORPS CONSERVATION PROGRAMS print this page - Los Angeles Conservation Corps - www.lacorps.org
LA Conservation Corps employs young people to provide conservation services for government agencies and private contract sponsors throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Our crews show up in uniform and ready to work, along with an LA Conservation Corps staff supervisor and all the tools they need to successfully complete the job for the contract sponsor. On any given day, our labor force of more than 200 young people perform conservation services for sponsors as far and wide as the San Bernardino Mountains to the Channel Islands.

Give these young people a chance to impress you by partnering with the LA Conservation Corps on your next conservation project. LA Conservation Corps has two decades of experience working with federal, state, local and private agencies, and a proven track record in:
• Executing large or small projects of all types
• Providing technical expertise for projects
• Leveraging partner funding

We offer cost-effective, quality services in the areas of work listed below.

Community Beautification
The LA Conservation Corps community beautification crews specialize in park enhancement projects and public space improvements for both public and private sponsors. We provide the supervision of journey level carpenters and contractors when the project requires it.

These young people can provide the following services:
• Installation of play structures and exercise stations
• Construction of gazebos and picnic areas
• Construction and stabilization of trails
• Graffiti Removal: The Corps crews fight the defacing of public and commercial property by removing graffiti seven days a week for the City of Los Angeles *. They use state-of-the-art technology to combat community blight and are experienced in removing graffiti from just about any surface, including brick and concrete buildings to trees and telephone poles. (*L.A. City Residents: please call City Services at “3-1-1” to request graffiti removal from private and residential property.)

Natural Disaster Preparation and Response
LA Conservation Corps crews are always on call to respond to any natural disaster that strikes Los Angeles. Our crews have assisted residents in times of need following floods, earthquakes and fires. We also provide services that help City and County agencies prepare for nature’s forces by constructing retaining walls, providing erosion control and installing gabion baskets.

Two LA Conservation Corps crews are currently assisting the U.S. Forest Service on a three-year project to help recover San Bernardino National Forest following the tragic fires of 2003 and 2004, thanks to sponsorship from the U.S. Forest Service and AmeriCorps/California Volunteers.

• Organize community garden constituents
• Help with garden design and build out, including irrigation installation, fence installation and garden bed construction

Mural Painting
LA Conservation Corps mural crews can coordinate and execute mural projects that beautify school campuses and neighborhoods. A professional muralist oversees all mural crews.
