CONSERVATION CORPS HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PROGRAM |
![]() |
| LA Conservation Corps operates three charter school sites
accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. At the three campuses – LA
Conservation Corps
High School, EcoAcademy and Youth Opportunities High School – more than 250 students a year who did not succeed in a traditional school setting
get a second chance to earn a State-accredited high school diploma. These charter high school sites provide students (ranging in age from 15 to 23) with a holistic learning experience that integrates academics with experiential learning opportunities, facilitating success for nontraditional learners. The length a student is enrolled can vary from six months to three years, depending on how many credits they enter with and the pace at which they learn. |

| Students who complete their course of study receive a California-certified high school diploma – and reclaim their chance to graduate in a cap and gown at our annual high school graduation ceremony. We also help students apply for scholarships to attend college, including those offered by the Corps. | |
| LA
Conservation Corps
High School, South L.A. and East L.A. LA Conservation Corps High School offers a small school setting of approximately 100 students, and small class sizes of approximately 10 to 15 students per class. Caring teachers take the time to work with students and help them learn. LA Conservation Corps High School also has case managers who are available to meet with students and assist them with overcoming personal challenges to successfully graduating. Because LA Conservation Corps High School students are 18 and older, this campus focuses on job skills and transitioning participants into employment and college. Since returning to the classroom can be difficult for these students, the school eases the transition by using a “service learning model," where the lessons students learn in the classroom are integrated into the hands-on environmental and community service projects they perform with the Corps’ Young Adult Corps. |

| This campus is unique because
it emphasizes environmental studies in the classroom, and environmental
service in the community. EcoAcademy students perform at least 40 hours
of environmental service work over the course of the school year, like planting
trees and creating urban gardens. The campus also meets the City’s
“Promote the Development of Our Youth” priority. FAQS Where is the school located? At 1403 S. Union Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90015 -- Phone: 213-389-3103 (on the corner of 14th St. and Union Ave.) Is EcoAcademy an independent study school? No. Students who want to attend this school need to commit to being in class from 8:00AM to 3:00PM, Monday through Friday. Will EcoAcademy accept credits from my old school(s)? Yes. Credits from previous schools can be applied towards a student’s graduation requirements, as long as the student brings their transcripts stating these credits to EcoAcademy. What are the graduation requirements at EcoAcademy? Students must complete 220 credits in various subjects, and pass the California High School Exit Exam in both English and Mathematics. Does EcoAcademy have any age limits? Students must be between ages 14 and 18. Students over 18 can apply to attend our Young Adult Corps High School campus. When do school terms start at EcoAcademy? EcoAcademy is open 12 months a year. Its school year is divided into three 4-month trimesters (July-October; November-February; March-June). There is no summer break, but students do get a couple of weeks off between trimesters. How do students enroll in EcoAcademy? Students must attend a three-day orientation that happens just before the new school trimester begins (call the school for the exact dates and time: 213-389-3103). In order to qualify for enrollment, a student must successfully complete the orientation, which requires: being on time and attending all three days, and cooperating and completing all of the required paperwork. Preference may be given to students who are not already enrolled in school elsewhere. If more students complete orientation than there are open spaces available in the school, then students will be selected via a lottery system. Will EcoAcademy credits count if I transfer to another school? Yes. Since EcoAcademy is a charter high school accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, we can guarantee that all other accredited high schools and colleges will recognize credits from our school. |
