Tree Planting & Urban Forestry
The LA Conservation Corps has provided high quality tree planting services for nearly 20 years. Staff, corpsmembers and volunteers have planted over 50,000 public space trees and facilitated the delivery of an additional 45,000 trees to Los Angeles residents.
Together with experienced supervisors, crews have planted tens of thousands of trees in the City of Los Angeles and beyond, maintained thousands of street and park trees and planted nearly 2,000 large scale shade trees in LA County Parks.
The LA Conservation Corps Urban Tree Planting program employs young adults between the ages of 18 to 24. This program provides the staff and work-force necessary to:
Recycling Capabilities
LA Conservation Corps participants can successfully implement a wide range of conservation projects at your office or building location. Our full-service recycling program will meet the needs of your organization by customizing our recycling services to fit the types and volume of your recyclables. Our youth will set up recycling bins, service the bins as often as needed and provide detailed records of recyclables collected. The Corps recycles glass, plastic and aluminum. Some of these services can be provided free of charge through a grant provided by the State Department of Conservation and the City of Los Angeles.
Graffiti Removal Services
The City of Los Angeles contracts with the Corps to remove graffiti and beautify our community. Our crews respond to the LA Police Department, Council District Offices 8 & 10 and through the Citywide 3-1-1 service. Corpsmembers are trained to use water and sand blasting machines to remove unsightly graffiti and reduce the presence of gangs in local communities. The Corps uses professional painting techniques and color matching equipment before removing graffiti.
Habitat Restoration & Enhancement
By partnering with the Corps, you receive double the benefit of improving environmental quality today while creating culturally diverse stewards to care for our environment tomorrow.
LA Conservation Corps participants can successfully implement a wide range of conservation projects for our partner organizations. The Corps has extensive experience in restoration implementation, invasive vegetation removal, trail building and maintenance, landscaping, and plant propagation. These projects also teach our corpsmembers the importance of conservation and environmental stewardship.
Our crews show up in uniform and read to work, along with a staff supervisor and all the tools needed to successfully complete the job. On any given day, more than 200 Corps participants perform conservation services in a wide geographic area throughout Southern California, from the San Bernardino Mountains to the Channel Islands.
