Calling All Potential Corpsmembers

Dear Friends,

In case you haven’t heard or read on our social media platforms, this is a great time to join the Corps. Thanks to our partnerships with the County of Los Angeles, the City of Los Angeles, and various City Councilmembers, we have multiple opportunities in the year ahead to expand our crews and make a positive impact on the quality of life in more neighborhoods.

We are hoping you can help spread the word! There are very few experiences like the Corps for young people in LA – paid job training, access to high school or college, help getting a driver’s license, support with necessities like childcare, housing, health/mental health care, and so much more. We know that the young adults of LA are resilient, passionate, and inquisitive, and we are committed to helping them make the most of their journey.

Our staff is always ready to connect with other community based organizations, schools, neighborhood groups or individuals and help them dig in to whether the Corps is the right option for them.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, we are preparing for another session of Virtual Mock Interviews on Friday, September 3 from 9 to 10 a.m. for Corpsmembers who are starting to think about what comes next. In partnership with the LA Chamber of Commerce, they complete a work readiness training that includes a chance to practice their presentation and interview skills. This is an extremely impactful experience for Corpsmembers and as the interviewer you will get to provide real time feedback for change or positive reinforcement. I usually participate and always learn something new from the young adults I interview.

If you would like to participate, please reach out to Gaby Jimenez, gjimenez@lacorps.org, for more details.

Your in Service and Gratitude,
Wendy Butts, CEO
