Corpsmember experiences in this Green Career Pathway include:

Offered in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Corpsmembers have an opportunity to participate in YouthBuild — our specialized vocational construction training program. Corpsmembers benefit from applying classroom-based construction training modules to on-site projects and construction trade experiences and from working alongside skilled construction workers. Our YouthBuild curriculum follows standards created by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), which are recognized nationally by employers and trade unions in the construction industry.

Urban Parks

Corpsmembers have a wide range of experiences on our Urban Parks projects. Corpsmembers are not only learning land surveying, demolition, and landscaping techniques, but they are also building bioswales to capture rain water, installing solar-powered irrigation systems, and learning to build sidewalks and other unique concrete structures to enhance the park setting.

Environmental Workforce Development & Job Training

In partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, we offer an Environmental Workforce Development & Job Training Program, also known as Brownfields. As part of this training program, Corpsmembers receive specialized vocational training in environmental remediation. The skills Corpmembers receive enable them to complete environmental assessments on blighted buildings, vacant lots and other areas impacted by contaminated lands. Ultimately, Corpsmembers develop marketable job skills that lead to meaningful long-term employment in the growing environmental field.
