LASAN’s 60-Day Food Waste Challenge:

Historical installations of bike racks in various locations throughout LA.

For 30 years, the Corps has worked with the state of California’s marquee program to encourage recycling in communities all across Southern California.

The Corps is the prime contractor for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s City Plants program. This marquee tree planting program is one of the Corps’ largest ongoing environmental projects and it gives our Corpsmembers experience in tree care and public engagement.

Our youngest Corpsmembers get their first job experience working across the City of Los Angeles with Council Districts on beautification and restoration projects in all 15 City Council Districts.

When a grant opportunity allowed for an expansion in infrastructure of ten new composting hubs in the LA area, we partnered with the Community Garden Council to replicate LA Compost hubs. Corpsmembers were trained in skills to build effective composting systems and were supported by LA Compost staff.
