Women in Wilderness Backpacking Trip Highlights!

Each year, we’re fortunate to offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to a select group of our Corpsmembers: an 8-day Women in Wilderness Backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierras. This journey provides a safe space for the incredible women of the LA Conservation Corps to enjoy nature alongside a passionate group of young women in conservation.

Our Corpsmembers Jennifer, Teresa, and Rachel saw the famous Devil’s Postpile, enjoyed taking a dip in the absolutely breathtaking Thousand Island Lake, and performed some essential trail maintenance along the way. This was their first-ever backpacking and camping experience, and it was especially meaningful to them because it was an all-women excursion.

South LA Corpsmember, Jennifer Morales, really enjoyed her experience and believes that Women in Wilderness “is a great opportunity to get to know yourself a little more and to have that amazing support system of women being all around you and women supporting women.” We are so proud we were able to provide this safe space for Jennifer.

A heartfelt shoutout to the Eastern Sierra Conservation Corps for making this transformative experience possible for our Corpsmembers!
