October Newsletter: 40th Anniversary Logo, Restoration in the Palisades, and Graffiti Removal

Dear Friend of the Corps,

We're excited to share our 40th Anniversary logo — a tribute to our history and four decades of impact. We think this logo gives a subtle nod to our past (many of you find the old “hands” logo a bit nostalgic), while still looking forward.

Our goal was to create a logo that feels youthful, forward-looking, and visually engaging while staying true to the Corps’ identity. The zero in the “40” is designed to be interchangeable, highlighting different aspects of our work — from our environmental impact to the positive difference we make in our communities and in the lives of our Corpsmembers.

Take a moment to review the designs below. We hope you like it!

Leading up to our 40th Anniversary on April 16, 2026, we’re planning several exciting events. Stay tuned for updates on how you can get involved.

In the meantime, take a moment to read about what we’ve been up to recently. We partnered with Councilwoman Traci Park and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) on restoration efforts in the Pacific Palisades, teamed up with Councilwoman Ysabel Jurado to address graffiti on the iconic 6th Street Bridge, and deployed crews to the Sepulveda Basin to reduce fire fuel. You can read more about these updates below!

In celebration and gratitude,

Restoration in the Pacific Palisades

Click here to watch a video about our South LA crew working in the Pacific Palisades to restore beach access and reduce fire fuel.

We’re collaborating with Councilwoman Traci Park and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority to restore natural landscapes impacted by the Palisades Fire.

This effort is just the beginning of more restoration work to come. Soon, we’ll be sending a crew to Temescal Canyon to reduce fire fuel and restore its iconic trails.

The Corps remains committed to supporting communities impacted by the wildfires this past January, and we are deeply grateful to our incredible Corpsmembers and staff who put in the work every day to make a difference.

Councilwoman Traci Park also put together an excellent video highlighting our partnership. If you’d like to watch her video, click here.

Graffiti Removal with Councilwoman Ysabel Jurado

Recently, NBC4 featured our crew working alongside Councilwoman Ysabel Jurado to remove graffiti from the new 6th Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles. Click here to see the post she shared about this story.

We’re proud to help maintain the beauty of this iconic bridge, which connects Boyle Heights to the Arts District. This effort is part of a larger collaboration with the Councilwoman to keep Council District 14 beautiful by cleaning streets and removing graffiti when needed.

We appreciate the local news covering this important work. Thank you to our amazing Corpsmembers and staff for their dedication to this project.

Fire Fuel Reduction in the Sepulveda Basin

Recent fires in the Sepulveda Basin have prompted a swift response from city officials and the LA Conservation Corps. Check out our video showcasing Corpsmembers hard at work in the Basin.

Our River Ranger crews from Northeast LA, East LA, and the West Valley have joined forces to remove fire fuel from medians and wooded areas in the Basin. Their efforts are focused on making the area safer and reducing the risk of future wildfires.

Corpsmembers understand how vital this work is for the community—especially after the devastation many neighborhoods faced this past January.

The River Rangers Program is a strong partnership with the City of Los Angeles and the Office of Community Beautification. Together, Corpsmembers are restoring and enhancing spaces along the Los Angeles River—protecting communities, supporting the environment, and expanding public access.

Keep up the great work, River Rangers!
