As we approach our 40th anniversary, we are pleased to share an important leadership announcement. The Board of Directors has appointed Tamara Muzac-Bravo, PhD. as the next Chief Executive Officer of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps.
Tamara’s appointment follows a thorough, thoughtful, and highly competitive search conducted in partnership with The Hawkins Company, a national executive search firm with deep experience supporting mission-driven organizations. The search surfaced an exceptional pool of highly qualified and distinguished candidates, reflecting the Corps’ reputation, impact, and the significance of this moment in the organization’s history.
Tamara brings proven executive leadership, deep institutional knowledge, and a nuanced understanding of the organization’s strengths and opportunities. She has served as Acting CEO at the Corps since November 2025, and previously served as Acting CEO for three months in the summer of 2024. Throughout her eight years of service to the Corps, she has served in multiple leadership roles, including as Director of Fiscal Operations, Chief Administrative Officer, and Chief Operating Officer. Tamara’s nonprofit leadership experience includes her tenure at several nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles in the decade prior to joining the Corps. She served as Director of Programs at the Salvation Army, Associate Director of Programs at A Place Called Home, and Associate Director of Finance and Operations at The Children’s Partnership.
At the Corps, Tamara has played a critical role in strengthening operations, modernizing systems, and ensuring that staff and Corpsmembers remain at the center of decision-making. Her leadership reflects continuity, confidence, and readiness as the Corps enters its next era.
“My vision is to elevate the Los Angeles Conservation Corps into one of the most influential youth development and climate-resilient organizations in the country, setting the national standard for the next 40 years,” said Tamara Muzac-Bravo, Chief Executive Officer.
As CEO, Tamara will build on the Corps’ strong foundation while advancing priorities centered on people-first leadership, collaboration across teams and departments, and thoughtful growth that positions the organization for long-term sustainability and impact.
“Under Tamara’s leadership, grounded in her deep commitment to Corpsmembers and staff, the Los Angeles Conservation Corps is well positioned to continue building momentum and strengthening its role in workforce development and in the critical conservation and environmental work that serves communities across Los Angeles County,” said Dawn Wilson, Chair of the Board of Directors.
“This moment represents both continuity and possibility for the Corps,” said Mercedes Morton, CEO Search Committee Chair. “Tamara brings the clarity, confidence, and collaborative leadership needed to guide the organization forward while honoring the values and direction that have been built together over time.”
The CEO Search process was led by a committee of the Board of Directors chaired by Mercedes Morton, working in close partnership with Dawn Wilson, Chair of the Board, and Jasson Crockett, Chair of the Board’s Transition Committee.
We are fully aligned with Tamara and the Corps’ leadership team and are excited to continue advancing the organization’s mission and expanding its impact across Los Angeles County and beyond.
With appreciation,
Board of Directors
