Thank You for Celebrating 40 Years with the Corps

Dear Friend of the Corps,

The last couple of months at the LA Conservation Corps have been a powerful reminder of the impact of our work.

Across two memorable events, we brought together Corpsmembers, staff, alumni, Board members, supporters, community partners, and friends to celebrate our shared accomplishments, reflect on four decades of impact and look ahead to the future we will continue building together.

At our 40th Anniversary Luncheon on May 14, around 300 people came together to celebrate the Corps’ mission and the young people at the heart of our work. Stories from Corpsmembers Damien Phillips and Lea Bracamontes, along with alumni Aracely Farias and Alex Lopez, highlighted how opportunity, support, and encouragement can transform lives and communities.

We were honored to welcome Mayor Karen Bass, who joined us to share special remarks. We also recognized Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, LA County Parks Director Norma E. García-González, and Niagara Cares for their leadership, partnership, and dedication to strengthening opportunities for young people and communities across Los Angeles. I’m excited to share our highlight video showcasing some of the best moments from the 2026 Luncheon!

A few weeks earlier on April 29, we celebrated our Anniversary Reception alongside our founder, Mickey Kantor, and former leaders Martha Diepenbrock, Bruce Saito, and Wendy Butts. Together, we reflected on the vision and leadership that have shaped the Corps over the last four decades. I was honored to be welcomed into the organization's leadership legacy as we embark on our fifth decade of service, impact, and opportunity for young people across Los Angeles.

For 40 years, the Corps has empowered young people, restored neighborhoods, improved public spaces, responded to disasters, and strengthened communities across Los Angeles. Our mission today is still as important as it was in 1986, and we remain committed to expanding that impact and creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders.

Thank you for your partnership and your belief in the young people we serve. The Corps would not be where it is today without supporters like you.
